Dear Jes,

I am a facilitator with a day job in sales for an enormous and successful vegan e-commerce company. I am very good at what I do and have always succeeded in reaching my goals. I’d resisted nailing down steady employment since graduating from university to try to stay truer to myself as an artist and activist. In the past year, I started experimenting with selling my workshops, which focus on reconnecting us to nature — at first, I offered workshops for free at local events, for friends on weekends, and at some festivals. Many people loved my work and encouraged me to start a business. It’s very fulfilling work, something I’m excited to see grow.

From what I see, my approach is unique; people leave with a sense of lightness and fulfillment they hadn’t felt in a long time. But, since I have tried to see it grow, my work has stagnated. No one seems interested. I am in sales; I know how to sell. Yet, I seem incapable of selling my workshops, which I stand behind. I use all the same strategies that I use in my day-to-day job. From my perspective, the product I am selling is even better than the vegan stuff. I recently started to ask a few close friends for feedback about my offers. Although they said they liked the offers, none signed up for
